What's included with our managed IT

Cyber Essentials, explained plainly

Cyber Essentials is a UK Government-backed scheme that checks the basics: firewalls and internet-facing services, secure configuration, security updates, user accounts and admin access, MFA, malware protection, cloud services, and the devices your staff use, including remote workers.

The usual reasons for failing are unglamorous: MFA not set up correctly, devices not patched, old accounts still active, unsupported software, services exposed to the internet that don't need to be, and no clear record of which devices and cloud services you have. Fixing these rarely means buying lots of new products. It means knowing your setup and managing it properly.

Who it's for

How it works

  1. Readiness review. We check your environment against the Cyber Essentials requirements and show you the gaps.
  2. Scope. We agree what's covered. Our preference is the whole organisation, because the security matters more than the certificate.
  3. Fix the gaps. MFA, patching, accounts, firewall and endpoint settings, Microsoft 365 security, cloud apps and documentation.
  4. Certify. We support you through the submission, and prepare you for the independent audit if you need Cyber Essentials Plus.
  5. Stay ready. Ongoing management keeps the controls in place between renewals.

Pricing

For managed clients, Cyber Essentials certification and the security tools above are included in the seat price. Fully managed IT support is from £85 per seat per month, with a £400 monthly minimum. Licensing and hardware are usually extra. If you'd like help with Cyber Essentials on its own, readiness and remediation work is quoted in advance. See how we work.

Cyber security FAQs

What's the difference between Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus? Cyber Essentials is a self-assessment. Plus uses the same requirements but adds independent technical testing, so it carries more weight where a customer or tender asks for it.

How long does Cyber Essentials last? 12 months. Your IT changes all year as people join and leave, laptops are replaced and new cloud services appear, so staying ready matters more than passing once.

Does Cyber Essentials require MFA? Yes, on in-scope cloud services such as Microsoft 365. Under the requirements in force since April 2026, missing MFA on a cloud service is an automatic fail.

We've failed an assessment. Can you help? Yes. We'll find out why, fix the gaps and support you through resubmission, whether you're starting from scratch or up against a tender deadline.

Are you certified yourselves? Yes. AnyIT has held Cyber Essentials since 2018, and we hold ourselves to the same baseline we set for clients.
